Maria

Marias comeback to Tribal Jewels dance troupe was early 2008 after a maternity break. An original member of the first lineup of dancers since 2004, dance has been a passion since the age of 21 commencing with modern contemporary dance. Has 7 years Flamenco dance experience, (until her feet began to protest!). Other dance styles studied while travelling was Bhutto (in Japan), and some classical Indian dance. Commenced her Bellydance journey with Jacqueline Peperkamp for 3 years before Tribal Jewels was formed.

Maria feels that tribal style belly dance in particular (ATS) draws from previous dance experience, is both disciplined and elegant, and looks sensational. Most of all she enjoys the team work & creativity involved within a troupe structure.

Maria & husband David are proud parents of a daughter. Maria plays the piano beautifully, has multiple interests in the arts and loves watching TV chefs & movies about food!
