Tamara - Assistant Director
Tamara is an origional member of Tribal Jewels since the troupe formed in 2004. She has recently returned after a short maternity break. Tamara commenced bellydance in 1999 first with The Gypsy Flames - Cynthia Delaney and then studied Tribal Style Bellydance (ATS) with Jacqueline Peperkamp. After studying Creative Arts for 6 years, Tamara finds the costume design and making an enjoyable creative process. Tamara enjoys Tribal style because of the relationships formed with her dancing sisters both current & past members. She loves the eye contact with dancers, the smiles, winks, and talking with the eyes - mid performance! Tamara manages a unique clothing store in Figtree, where she sources performance costumes for Tribal Jewels. Tamara draws inspiration from her sister troupe members, family, master teachers, music she listens to and her local environment. Tamara & her husband David are proud parents of a 2 daughters. Interests with her family are taking their pet dog for walks on the beach. Specialises in sword balancing, layback floor work & Gypsy Piano Shawl. Performs with props: Visual festival wings, sword balancing, silk fan veils, skirt dance, cane, tambourine, silk veil & finger cymbals (zills).
